Karson Reil, a student in the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program, needed a change of direction in school and life. Karson decided to enroll into the EMT program due to a growing interest and now has a career-focused education, which has supported Karson to create pathways for the future.

Bella Harris, a student in the Cosmetology: Nails & Esthetician program, is pursuing a career as an Aesthetic Nurse, specializing in advanced medical treatments. Bella's goal isn't just pursuing a career, but also wanting to challenge and change the beauty standards, especially for Black and Brown beauty.

Fiona Savela, a student in the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program, is graduating with her EMR Certification and 19 college credits. By taking what she has learned while being in this program, Fiona wants to give back and support patients during their most vulnerable moments.

Inshan Rai, a student in the Licensed Trades program, found a pathway into his future because of his interest in construction. Inshan's dedication to learn from theory to the job site even earned him Student of the Month.

This month is Career and Technical Education Month! At Northeast Metro 916 Career and Technical Center, students are empowered with opportunities to discover their purpose and to develop skills. and passion necessary to pursue their goals in education, community, and industry.
One project that's currently happening is the building of saunas. Students from the Architecture & Construction Engineering Program have been busy working on this project and we look forward to seeing them all built!

Last week Northeast Metro 916 Career and Technical Center held their 916impaCT Information Night! Staff, student ambassadors and industry partners shared their impaCT through engaging activities and program information. Visitors could also participate in a bingo activity where they visit a program, learn about them, and win a prize when they earned a bingo!

Northeast Metro 916 Career and Technical Center was featured in an article by Press Publications. They welcomed Jessica Weaver, an instructor of Auto Body Collision Technology at Dakota County Technical College (DCTC), into their Automotive and Auto Body Careers classroom. It was an exciting opportunity for students to learn from a new perspective and ideas. This collaboration with Jessica Weaver helped students grow, connect, and made learning even more meaningful.

Students at Northeast Metro 916 Career and Technical Center recently took part in the "Reality Check" event. Working in groups, they were given a family budget scenario and were challenged to make financial decision across categories such as health care, personal care, transportation, housing, and food—all while staying within their means. The experience helps students see firsthand how career choices connect to the kind of lifestyle they hope to build.

31st 916 Career and Tech Center Student-built Home
Students, staff, and community members gathered in North St. Paul to tour the newest achievement by students in the Construction Occupations program at the 916 Career and Technical Center. They showcased the new single-family home they built from the ground up.
The amazing work was done in partnership with the City of North St. Paul, Century College, and St. Paul College. Through this program, students get hands-on, real-world experience in the licensed trades of carpentry, masonry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical while working alongside trade professionals.
